Pig Manure Composting Machines: Core Way for Pig Farm Compliance & Zero Pollution

By 2026, Malaysia’s pig farming industry will be facing an unprecedented storm of environmental regulations, and traditional open-air composting methods will no longer meet the requirements of the new legislation.

For large-scale farms, transformation is no longer an option, but a matter of survival — especially for pig farmers who rely on basic composting sites. A compliance upgrade centred on pig manure composting machines is quietly becoming an industry imperative.

From Old Pond Treatment to Strict Rules: Why Traditional Pig Waste Methods Fail

In recent years, as urban areas have expanded and environmental awareness has increased, multiple states in Malaysia have introduced stricter controls on the livestock industry.

Modern pigs kept in confined spaces have limited mobility and rapid digestion, resulting in manure containing organic matter at concentrations tens to hundreds of times higher than human faeces. The high concentration of organic carbon in this manure cannot be addressed by simple sedimentation; it must undergo efficient biodegradation to meet standards.

Currently, most pig farms still rely on the ‘ditch-and-settling’ model, which involves digging large ponds next to the facility to allow the manure to settle naturally and relying on environmental bacteria to decompose it slowly. From an engineering perspective, this is a low-efficiency anaerobic treatment method.

Space-intensive: It requires several hectares of land to accommodate wastewater ponds.

Slow: The decomposition cycle lasts 90–120 days.

High risk: In an oxygen-deprived environment, foul-smelling gases such as hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) are continuously produced, which corrodes metal equipment and triggers NIMBY complaints.

Why are more and more farms shifting toward “fully enclosed resource recovery”?

Rather than simply disposing of manure and wastewater, the focus is now on transforming them into a manageable, usable and sustainable resource system.

Unlike traditional ‘end-of-pipe treatment’, a new trend is emerging in the industry.Rather than simply disposing of manure and wastewater, the focus is now on transforming them into a manageable, usable and sustainable resource system.

In large-scale pig farms and corporate farming operations in particular, ‘fully enclosed, automated, resource recovery’ is becoming the new direction for upgrades.

In recent years, pig manure composting machines utilising high-temperature aerobic fermentation technology have emerged as a key focus for an increasing number of large-scale farms.

Compared to traditional anaerobic settling, the biggest difference with aerobic fermentation is that:

They use a continuous supply of oxygen, automatic agitation and temperature control to enable the rapid decomposition of organic matter in a high-oxygen environment. This is in contrast to the traditional method of allowing it to ‘simmer in sewage ponds and decompose naturally’ over long periods.

This means:

Faster fermentation

Significantly reduced odours

Higher efficiency in degrading organic matter

Easier stabilisation and harmless treatment

For farms with limited land resources and increasingly stringent environmental requirements, this model is becoming increasingly important.

Bolong Pig Manure Composting Machine: Solving the Manure Dilemma

Pig Manure Composting Machine

In the face of these challenges, Bolong offers a resource recovery solution based on the principle of high-temperature aerobic fermentation: the smart manure composting machine. This completely replaces the anaerobic treatment model.

1、Smart temperature control and automatic aeration

Equipped with a PLC automatic control system, it maintains an aerobic environment by forcing oxygen supply and controlling temperature fluctuations within ±2°C. Fermentation efficiency is enhanced, shortening the cycle to just 7 days—-1/12 of the time required by traditional methods.

2、High-temperature sanitisation at 55-75°C

The pig manure composting machine maintains a stable, high-temperature fermentation environment throughout the process. This achieves a kill rate of 99.9% for Salmonella and E. coli, and completely inactivates parasite eggs. This ensures that the organic fertiliser meets regulatory standards for market release.

3、Three-stage odour control system

The sealed structure of the Bolong pig manure composting machine, combined with a three-stage odour control system, achieves an H₂S and NH₃ removal rate of over 95%, eliminating odours at source.

4、Continuous feeding and daily processing

Designed for large-scale farming operations, the machine supports 24-hour continuous operation with no risk of accumulation, enabling the daily processing of manure and wastewater.

Smart Manure Composting Machines Are Becoming a New Operational Tool for Farms

Historically, manure was widely considered to be an environmental burden. However, as demand for green agriculture and organic farming grows, an increasing number of farms are re-evaluating manure’s value as a resource.

After high-temperature aerobic fermentation, pig manure can be converted into a stable organic fertiliser suitable for use in oil palm plantations, orchards, vegetable farms and horticultural cultivation.

Compared to raw, uncomposted manure, the organic fertiliser produced through this harmless treatment process is less odorous, more stable, and easier to transport and use.

Under the dual pressures of stringent environmental regulations and market competition, Bolong smart manure composting machine is a solution that not only ensures compliance, but also creates profit opportunities. By choosing the right technology, you can transform manure waste into a valuable resource and embrace green, sustainable farming practices.
